| Previously, I had won two first place-middle class prizes and a second place-nobility prize. I had put more into this dress than any other I had yet made and was hoping to go further. I entered in the nobility category again and won Grand Prize! I am thoroughly ecstatic about it, especially since one of the prizes was a serger, which I desperately need. I am a happy girl. Below is a gallery of my completed dress, and I have also included some of my competition. I hope to add more pictures of the event as I can get my hands on them, but these two girls were very sweet. The last parade for the judges |

Erica's hoops were poking out because we were all squished together... And for some reason, I look like my head's about to pop off. hmmmm |

The side view |

This shows the pouf of the skirt which I like, the sleeve slashing and my flag fan. You can also just see my hair taping and the pearl tips on my horns. |

A little reverance |

In this shot you can see my shoes and my girdle, which was usually lost in the skirt folds. You can also just get a glimps of the velvet buttons on the sleeve. |

Me & the folks who were very sweet to drive up and cheer me on for the day. |

And that damned uneven ladder lacing from the stresses of the cord on the rings. I'd love to find a way to keep these even! |

Erica's dress had over 400 pearls on the sleeves which she hand beaded herself. |

Erica receiving her prize from Frieda, with our Good Queen, Bess |

In this shot you can just see her wonderful braided hair with drop pearls pinned in - her OWN hair. I am jealous! Side note - Frieda (to Erica's right) made the Queen's dress. |

2/8/05 Bella runs a wonderful website called the Realm of Venus, and I owe much of my research to her. She provides a monthly showcase of other costumers' work, and then lets visitors vote on the best of the year. So January was voting and Feb 1st I was informed that I have won 2nd place - the Silver Rose Award. As much as it sucks not to be first, I can't complain when I lose to Jen and her fabulous creation... Congratulations Jen on your Gold Rose! If you've got the time, I highly recommend reading her dress diary for the making-of this dress. Melissa won the Copper Rose for her lovely Venetian creation - did I say how much I LOVE the ecclesiastical fabric? Congratulations to Melissa and all the other showcase artists for a great year! 5/30/06 - Some shots captured on my day at faire, 4/23/06 Click the picture at right to see...
