| Let's see how boring I can make my life sound... I live in Los Angeles with my wonderful and sexy guitar-wizard of a husband, amazing daughter, and two cats. I have been in SoCal for most of my life with a brief stint in Vienna, Austria, which I miss terribly. My mother is a professional craft seamstress and doll-maker who taught me to sew when I was a child. She started doing craft and ren-faires when I was eleven and I was bitten by the costume bug. My whole family fell victim to my new passion and I'm sure it was years before they started to look reasonable. Now that I'm grown, physically anyway, and Halloween is for my daughter, not me, I still indulge my desire to dress up at faires and on stage. I now costume staged operas and make myself at least one, big dress a year for the SoCal Renaissance Faire. My real love has always been music which I got from my Father, a talented audio engineer. I have studied and performed opera for almost 20 years and have also been in a couple of rock bands in LA, which is great fun! Opera will always be my first love but the personalities of rock musicians are a lot more... well... laid back, shall we say. HA! | Just because people ask... I have 4 rules for determining whether any sewing project is a "real" dress.- I must rip out something I have already sewn
- I must bleed on it
- I must be sewing on it into the wee hours of the morning before I must wear it
- I must still have to sew myself into it to wear it the first time

"La legende de Joseph Potiphar's Wife" Leon Bakst 1914 I love Bakst's costume designs! And the pics in the banners of most pages are all by Alfonse Mucha - my all-time favorite artist. |
